Clark Pinnacle Raises $85,000 for Sailors and Marines Affected by Hurricane Katrina

SAN DIEGO - Clark Pinnacle, the U.S. Navy's and Army's housing privatization partner, hosted its First Annual San Diego Charity Golf Tournament on Nov. 17 at the Mount Woodson Golf Club. At the awards ceremony, Clark Pinnacle donated $85,000 to the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society to benefit Sailors and Marines affected by Hurricane Katrina. More than 120 golfers participated in the four-person scramble, including representatives from Clark Pinnacle and the many consulting and subcontracting firms working on the housing revitalization efforts at Naval Complex San Diego.

"The Society has been challenged since Hurricane Katrina. We have assisted 4,663 service members and given away $2.1 million in financial assistance," said Mr. John Irons, director of the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society in San Diego. "Donations such as the proceeds from the Clark Pinnacle golf tournament enable us to provide this type of support for our military community."

"We are thankful for the opportunity to give back to the military members and their families who sacrifice for our country," said Scott Orrantia, director of military housing for Clark Realty. "We will continue to give back by building exceptional communities for military families and establishing the new standard for housing single enlisted Sailors."

Clark Pinnacle is working in unison with the Department of the Navy to develop its plans for Pacific Beacon, the premier home for our nation's unaccompanied Sailors. Located at Naval Station San Diego, Pacific Beacon will be a striking addition to the San Diego skyline. With spacious two-bedroom, two-bathroom apartments, and amenities including a fitness pavilion, multimedia theatres, and a rooftop Sky Terrace with pool and spa, unaccompanied Sailors will enjoy housing tailored to the Navy lifestyle. Clark Pinnacle is a joint venture between Clark Realty Capital, an award-winning real estate development and construction firm in Bethesda, Md., and Pinnacle, American Management Services Company, of Seattle.

Clark Pinnacle also hosted its First Charity Golf Tournament in Monterey, Calif., on Nov. 18 at the Monterey Pines Golf Course. Monterey's tournament proceeds of $85,000 were donated to La Mesa Elementary, Marshall Elementary, Fitch Middle School, and Boy Scout Troop #135. Clark Pinnacle is working with Department of the Navy and Department of the Army at Monterey Bay to design, construct, and operate military family housing communities.

The inaugural Monterey and San Diego golf tourneys follow on the heels of the Second Annual Charity Golf Classic held at Fort Belvoir in August. Clark Pinnacle raised $114,000, which was split between Fort Belvoir Youth Sports and the Army Emergency Relief (AER) of Fort Belvoir, with each group receiving $57,000 each.

None of the funds dedicated to the Monterey Bay family housing and San Diego unaccompanied housing programs were used toward these events. The annual charity golf tournaments are neither endorsed nor sponsored by the Department of Defense, Department of the Navy, or Department of the Army.
