Clark Realty's San Diego Office Welcomes New Associate Sam Bellas
Associate Brings Wealth of Experience and Accreditation for LEED Certification
San Diego - Clark Realty's San Diego office is demonstrating their commitment to environmentally friendly efforts with the addition of a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Accredited Professional to their staff.
Sam Bellas relocated to Clark Realty's San Diego office to assist with the closing and start of construction for Pacific Beacon, the first of its kind large-scale housing privatization for single sailors. Through an innovative public-private venture between the Department of the Navy and Clark Realty, private sector financing and expertise will be leveraged to provide housing on par with new downtown condominiums for 1,880 sailors, many of whom currently live on their ship while in homeport. The project is ranked as the largest construction project in the San Diego region and is expected to be completed by 2010.
"We are pleased to have Sam join our San Diego team," said Bryan Lamb, development executive of Clark Realty Capital. "His expertise and experience enhances our commitment at Clark Realty to be environmental stewards of the communities we create."
Prior to joining Clark Realty's San Diego office, Bellas served as Clark's development manager for Fort Totten Park Apartments, a three-building, 308-unit, transit-oriented joint development with the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority. Bellas guided the DC-based green project from the conceptual design to the start of construction, assisting with loan closing and critical relocation of the existing Metro facilities.
"As the industry continues to identify ways to incorporate green and high performance design, I am proud to work for an organization that embraces that movement," said Bellas.
Bellas worked for five other Clark companies before signing on with Clark Realty in 2005. He brings a well rounded background with experience in architecture, commercial construction, corporate analysis, marketing, business development, project financing and public-private deal structuring for workforce housing and transportation and infrastructure projects.
Bellas received a B.A. in Sociology and Economics with coursework in Architectural History and Design from the University of Virginia. He is a member of the South County Economic Development Corporation, Building Industry Association, San Diego's Chapter of the US Green Building Council and Coronado community.

About LEED Certification
The LEED AP Certification and Green Building Rating System are the product of the US Green Building Council. The Green Building Rating System is the nationally accepted benchmark for the design, construction, and operation of high performance green buildings. LEED promotes a whole-building approach to sustainability by recognizing performance in five key areas of human and environmental health: sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, materials selection, and indoor environmental quality. LEED provides a roadmap for measuring and documenting success for every building type and phase of a building lifecycle.
